Weekend Database Administrator (MCITP) training
Our training is conducted over several Saturdays by a highly experienced database administrator and consultant who works full-time during the week, but is keen to help others enter the profession. You can expect to work hard during the course and to perform some work during the week in preparation and as practice.
Our method is far preferable to the "boot camp" style that other training organisations use. On a boot camp you are typically taught over a number of consecutive days, cramming everything you need to pass the exam in a few short days. This method does not allow you the space and time to practice, to absorb and try different approaches to the same problem, to read around each subject and to try all of the options. After a boot camp you will find your knowledge draining away very quickly. Which is a problem if your first job interview ends up being a few weeks after the end of the course.
How to get started
You are probably reading this because you have already made a decision to work with databases as a database administrator (DBA). It's a great career choice and we salute you for having made it.
To take your first steps in IT, or to crosstrain to a DBA from another role in IT, you need:
- the technical knowledge
- the ability to prove that knowledge to an employer
- help in finding and assessing job opportunities and preparing for interview
Our approach to training covers all these three things. Firstly we train you technically so that you are confident about the SQL Server 2005 product. Secondly we prepare you for the exams - you will use your certifications to prove your knowledge to an employer. And finally we help you (over an extended period if required) to search for job opportunities, assess whether you are suitable and prepare for the CV / application / interview process. In some cases our database consultants may even find unadvertised job opportunities in the course of their work for companies throughout the UK that they can discuss with you. This is one of the benefits of choosing practising consultants working full-time in the industry to help you.
